A murderer is on the loose in Roseberry. See what happens at the end..
Welcome once again everyone. Here we are with another banger! Me and my 2 other colleagues Derin Rüya Yağcı and Eray Ahmet Kurt made this new short story about a mysterious murder and the following events. Creating this animation was quite a journey. I learned so much about essentials of script writing and creating a story.
Finding an interesting setting and deciding on chains of events that lead to a satisfying climax is quite the hard task, but i believe me and Derin have co-written a quite fun and interesting story. I love murder stories so i had tons of inspiration from beforehand while writing the dialogues of the story. When you first start writing a story, you have many different ideas you want to include. But writing a story is like carving a marble, you need to trim out the excess while putting emphasis on the parts that serve the story. For a novice like myself this was quite a learning step, we needed to both agree on what to include and not.
Voice acting was the best part, i played the narrator and i had 100% freedom on how i would make him sound like. Eray played the rookie (he may not be a rookie after all) while Derin played our hard boiled detective. Cooperating with them was really fun as well. Derin painstakingly drawn every scene frame by frame but it paid off immensly. Her awesome illustrations are the best part of our animation by far. Eray edited and stichted everything together while adding sound effects which made the whole thing a lot more cinematic.
This experience is an awesome learning opportunity for every student. Writing a story in English and creating a whole animation not only helps students learn english better but it also teaches them to co-operate with other students and create something totally new. They also learn how to use many different 20th century tools such as editing softwares,
illustiration softwares, hosting softwares etc. by themselves. I would absolutely ask my future students for similar projects as homework.
